Lauren -Speech and Language Pathologist:
Lauren Jones is a Speech-Language Pathologist originally from Ohio. She received her undergraduate degree in Hearing, Speech and Language Sciences at Ohio University in June of 2004 and her Master’s degree in Speech Pathology at Kent State University in August of 2006. After externship placements in both Barrett Academy Elementary School and South Pointe Hospital, she decided to make her career with children. Lauren moved to Chicago shortly after graduation and began working for West Chicago Elementary School District #33. Currently in her second year, Lauren works with students grades Kindergarten through sixth who are not only in general education classes, but with students with speech and language impairments, Down’s syndrome, specific learning disabilities, developmental delay, hearing impairments, cognitive disabilities, behavior disabilities, autism, and other health impairments. Lauren knows sign language and enough Spanish to carry a conversation with a Spanish speaking student. Lauren began working at A Place for Children during the summer months of 2007 while school was not in session. She was involved with the play groups during the week and enjoyed working collaboratively with the Developmental Therapists and the Occupational Therapists in this program. Lauren considers children’s language development her passion and is thrilled to have the opportunity to also work in an Early Intervention setting.

Jason -
I originally attended the University of Missouri- Columbia to pursue a degree in journalism. While attending school I was fortunate enough to be employed by "A Way with Words" (a college-based tutoring company) through the University's work-study program. This job afforded me to work one-on-one with the area's elementary level students with special needs and subsequently a degree change to cross-categorical special education. I currently hold a bachelor of science in education and am pursing a Masters of Education at DePaul University. At A Place for Children, I am working as a developmental therapist providing systematic and developmentally appropriate therapy to children.
